The Eleventh Character: The Girl Who Exchanges Almost Everything (Part one)

(In response to 10 characters of Ilya Kabakov)

There is a girl who live in a basement somewhere in Brighton, working hard on her "exploration". When she has moved in, nobody knows; where she has come from, again, nobody sure. The only thing her ten neighbours are sure about her is her contradictory desires: a love of continuity and a yearning for change. Although she like to think of herself and her way of life as being thoroughly consistent, this is an illusion. She is, in fact, in a constant state of flux. Whilst appearing to be heading for a bright new tomorrow, her alter ego is subtly trying to get back to a cosy yesterday.
